If I told you that there was a 1981 Honda Accord Gasser that could do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds you'd probably think that it has some loud thumping V8 or a 2JZ powering it. Well you would be wrong. This particular Accord has a little something special under the hood, electricity.

Yes you read that right. There is nothing but clean EV energy under the hood of this Accord. This mad fully electric drag car was built by @JimmyBuilt on YouTube. It features the batteries from a 2012 Chevrolet Volt.

The "T" end of the battery pack fits under the hood with the Gasser front suspension providing clearance as well as style. The rest of the batteries fit in the cut out transmission tunnel. A fat pair of slicks and a wheelie bar ensure that this old school Honda can put the rubber to the road.

All of this combines into the insane acceleration numbers. So far they have tested it to a 2.7 second 0-60 but believe that with hot tires and tarmac they can get it below 2.5 seconds. See the video of the 2.7 second launch below.

It's epic projects like this that let us know that even in the electric future where gas engines are no more, automotive tuning and racing will still be just as alive as it is today. We can't wait to see how this build progresses. Keep up the great work Jimmy Built!
