McLaren Speedtail First Look

Just when we think we've seen the pinnacle of engineering from the folks in Woking they go and surprise us all again. The Speedtail is McLaren’s first ever Hyper-GT and using McLaren's own words is "A pure fusion of science and art in automotive form."  Driven by a 1000+ horsepower hybrid powertrain and unparalleled aerodynamic efficiency, the Speedtail is of a new breed and age of automotive design and engineering.

Resurrecting its iconic three seat configuration from the legendary F1, the Speedtail puts the driver center stage with a cockpit a jet pilot would envy. The drive mode selection and Start/Stop buttons grace the upper console adding ever more to the feeling of piloting not a car, but a jet.

The Speedtail's jaw-dropping elongated body makes it as much a work of art as a masterpiece of technology. The flowing lines and softening edges creates a shape that begs for the gale force winds of speed.

The Speedtail sports a few unique touches including its front wheel covers and rear view cameras. The wheel covers are designed to always control the air in the most efficient manner possible. The rear view cameras pop out when needed, but tuck away flush when the only thing you want to focus on is the road ahead of you.

With pulling inspiration from the legendary McLaren F1, the Speedtail certainly has some large shoes to fill, but if its level of performance rivals its beauty, then the Speedtail is sure to light the world on fire.
